Join us as we open SMK’s new exhibition Hieroglyphs – Symbolist Drawings 1890-1910.
An exhibition that focuses on the renewed importance of drawing in Danish art in an age when Symbolism flourished and artists delved into matters of spirit, soul and form.
Through works of art by artists such as J.F. Willumsen, L.A. Ring, Johannes Holbek and Jens Lund, you can explore hidden tales, dreams, and visions that take on the shape of gnarly trees and serpentine flowers – and you can scrutinise the humorous distortions of caricature at close quarters.
• Welcome: Mikkel Bogh, director of SMK.
• Introduction to the exhibition: Thomas Lederballe, curator and senior researcher
• Cold refreshments and music in the Sculpture Street
• Free admission to the exhibition.
We hope to see you at the official opening. Attendance is free, and all are welcome. No registration required.
Thank you for generous support to the exhibition
